Message From Jamie: A few months ago, I profiled Richard Gordon, who has been studying my "Online Classical/Fingerstyle Course" for many months, and has recently completed the final group of lessons. He sent me an mp3 of one of the most difficult and musically appealing pieces contained in the textbook used for the course, and I have to say I was amazed.

I usually only hear results this good if I am personally teaching someone, but in fact, I have never met Richard. Another interesting fact is that Richard is what we would call "self taught". He has never had a formal guitar lesson, and the only guitar instructional material he has studied has been The Principles.

After working with the first Principles book, he went on to our online course, and brought his playing skills to an even higher level. He says " I find that I just continue to improve and feel the beginnings of a real grasp of superior sound through relaxation. Compared to how I used to play this is a minor miracle in itself!"

After Richard sent me his last mp3, I told him how proud I was of him, and that I wanted to share it with people. The piece he sent me is one of the most difficult pieces in the course, especially to play with a good sound and speed. Richard's recording is a testament to the diligence and excellent study habits he applied to this course.

Congratulations Richard, and I hope this will inspire others, especially non-professional players out there, and prove that it IS possible to obtain a very solid foundation of technique in this style, and to have the knowledge and confidence to make continuous progress throughout the years.
