Practice Tips For Principled Players

General: Observe all pick strokes, and left hand fingering. Make sure you can tap your foot to a steady beat, and sing this music. Even though we usually do up-picks on up beats, on the first line we are using down picks because the music is slow, and it gives emphasis.

Bar 2: When doing the pull off with 2 and 1, watch the 3rd finger. Make sure it doesn't tense and pull away from the string. It needs to be relaxed, ready, and close to the 3rd string for its upcoming note.

Bar 4: This is a difficult lick to get just right. Do a lot of no tempo practice here. On the pull off with 3 to 1 in the beginning, watch 4. In fact, practice the pull while keeping 4 in light contact with its 4th string note. This will teach it to stay close. Relax the shoulders as you do no tempo practice on all position shifts in this lick.

Notice the vibrato on all long, held notes.
