                                           Private Consultations With Jamie

Meet a few of Jamie’s students who travel from abroad

to take lessons with him. What are they getting that makes the trip worthwhile?

students say about their experience of taking lessons.

Jon From Iceland

"Traveling from Iceland to America to have a couple of guitar lessons is not something I do every week, so obviously I had tiny bits of doubt creeping into my mind every now and then.....

But to be honest I feel now that only one of the two lessons I had would have been worth the whole trip.  I am now totally aware of the areas I need to focus on to progress further and how to use the exercises  in the book to get there and see some serious results."

       Marcus From England

"The lessons were everything I hoped they would be and more. I have devised a new practice schedule already and am more motivated than ever to improve. The lessons have helped me fill in the gaps in my understanding.

I feel much more confident about how to apply “The Principles" and have a much better appreciation of the levels of attention and concentration required."

Rick from Belgium

"Once you get there, he & Geraldine will make you feel at home, you won't be nervous at all. Jamie will critique everything you do with the guitar.

He's EXTREMELY intelligent & perceptive; he'll see things you never noticed about your playing. More importantly, he's very talented at transferring the knowledge to others, unlike some great players who don't know how to tell someone in WORDS what to do, HE CAN!"

The Process

by Geraldine

Most every day, I receive inquiries from students who are working with “The Principles” about what it would take to set up some lessons with Jamie, himself.

The emails I get have some of the worst horror stories that anyone could read about. Players suffering from elbow, wrist, back and every other possible pain that can be acquired throughout their years of incorrect practice.

Many students that I hear from are working on their own because of their past traumatic experiences with guitar teachers.  I hear stories of students whose teachers advised them to quit the guitar entirely because of their “lack of talent”. One student told me that she had gone through twenty guitar teachers, and was still not making anywhere near the progress she wanted!

Others have stopped playing for years, because they were so discouraged by getting nowhere in their playing ability. This one doesn’t work for too long a time, though, as guitars do not like sitting idle in closets. They will start screaming at you to play them! Many people "return to the guitar", after giving it up

in high school, or college, and want to start off on the right track this time.

Some students write in absolute frustration with no idea of what to do next; others have a specific goal in mind about what they are looking to accomplish. Some write with a passion  to perform professionally; others are just looking for the fulfillment of hearing themselves make beautiful sounds on the guitar, and playing for family and friends.

But one commonality rings out loud and clear among all the guitar students that I hear from. It is the awareness that they have a very real need to play the guitar and are dedicated to making that happen in their lives.

Piles of music books, tapes, DVD's and working in isolation  will only go so far, and at times, will even take a student farther away from where they want to go.  They have come to the point of realization that it will take a one on one interaction with a professional teacher- a True Teacher.

After the logistics are worked out in setting up their meeting with Jamie, I breathe a sigh of relief, knowing that help will be on the way!

Time after time, I see what happens. The student arrives for the lesson embodying every

. imaginable vibration on the planet happening all at once! Fear, nervousness, enthusiasm, anxiety, humility, gratitude, courage. Above all, what comes across is what led them here in the first place- simply, the love of playing the guitar and the conviction to do so.

“Dr. Jamie” gets to work right away. He will quickly diagnose your problems and come up with the cure. He will make sure that you understand the corrections that are necessary, and why, and then, HE WILL GET YOU TO DO THEM.

Jamie is of the highest caliber in his field, and guarantees results. I have seen amazing transformations happen, even after only one lesson. Major light bulbs go off.

Now comes the part I most look forward to-the student's expression as they walk out of the studio! Having a lesson with Jamie is quite a mind blowing experience that gets written all over the face!

What was once their dream has now every possibility  of becoming a reality, and they know that now. The student really has something to take home that will last a lifetime. Their guitar playing lives have changed; they are transformed by the process.
