| The Process
Most every day, I receive inquiries from students who are working with “The Principles” about what it would take to set up lessons with Jamie.
The e-mails I get have some of the worst horror stories that anyone could read about. People suffering from elbow, wrist, back and every other possible pain that is acquired throughout their years of incorrect practice.
Many students that I hear from are working on their own because of their past traumatic experiences with guitar teachers. I hear stories of students whose teachers advised them to quit the guitar entirely because of their “lack of talent”. One student told me that she had gone through twenty teachers, and was still not making anywhere near the progress she wanted!
Others have stopped playing for years, because they were so discouraged by getting nowhere. This doesn’t work for long, as guitars |
do not like sitting idle in closets. They will start screaming at you if you stop paying attention to them!
Some students write in absolute frustration and have no idea what to do next; others have a specific goal in mind about what they are looking to accomplish. Some write with a passion to be a professional; others are just looking for the fullfillment of hearing themselves make beautiful sounds on the guitar.
But one commonality rings out loud and clear among all the guitar students that I hear from. It is their awareness that they are at a dead end and need trustworthy advice to get past the obstacles they are experiencing that prevent them from reaching their next level of playing ability. They have come to a point in their lives that they will no longer settle for just any guitar teacher. They want to see results in thier playing.
After the logistics are worked out in setting up their lessons with Jamie, I breathe a sigh of relief, knowing that help will be on the way! Time
|
after time, I see it happen. The student arrives for the lesson enbodying every imagineable vibration on the planet happening all at once! Fear, reluctance, enthusiasm, anxiety, humility, gratitude, courage. Above all, what comes across is what led them here in the first place- simply, their love of playing the guitar and the conviction to do so.
“Dr. Jamie” gets to work right away. She will quickly diagnose your problems and come up with the cure. She will make sure that you understand the corrections that are necessary, and WHY, and then, she will get you to DO THEM. Jamie is of the highest caliber in her field, and guarantees results in your growth.
Now comes my favorite-the student's facial expression as they walk out of the teaching room. Having a lesson with Jamie is quite a mind blowing experience!
Revelation! What was once only a dream has now entered their realm of reality, and the student is totally transformed by the process.
