"The Principles of Correct Practice for Guitar" DVD
|Principled Players all agree: this visual guide to all the Foundation Exercises contained in "The Principles" is the best way to make sure you are getting the full benefit of the landmark book for guitarists often referred to as "The International Bible of Guitar."
Our 2nd Edition DVD has been completely updated in it's look, and there has been a reorganization of material, as well as a refocusing of emphasis. Some material and concepts have been expanded to reflect insights which have come to light in the 10 years since the publication of our first edition DVD.
In the 2nd Editon DVD, you will find complete instructions on how to properly practice all the techniques covered in "The Principles" book, and countless insights and approaches that facilitate the learning process.
The DVD is not a substitute for the book, but is an invaluable means of fully absorbing what is in the book. It does not go into the detailed explanations of key concepts contained in "The Principles" book; rather, the focus is to illustrate the use of these concepts for the performance of the Foundation Exercises as they need to be done in order to form a strong foundation for your technique.
The Principles Of Correct Practice For Guitar - All-Region DVD
"...The DVD is brilliant, absolutely brilliant. The combination of the book and DVD has do be the best guitar instruction material available to us all."
This is one of many reactions from players using the DVD right now
1. Sitting and Holding the Guitar
Description: This DVD covers all vital training for right hand finger picking exercises which lead to complete independent control of each finger of the right hand, and the ability to use them with lightening speed, while keeping the rest of the arm relaxed.
Then, it is on to left hand training, going through the essential exercises that lead you to discover the inner sensations that lead to solid guitar ability, to enable you to go as far as you wish on the road to playing excellence. String push downs, finger flapping, the firm and light finger, the heavy and light arm, are all illustrated, as well as how these preparatory exercises are used in the Foundation Exercises of The Crutch and The Ladder.
As always, The Principles train the body in a holistic fashion. The larger muscle groups are trained first, so that they are able to support the action of the smaller muscles that operate the fingers themselves. And so, after the exercises mentioned above, we get to the heart of the matter: the Walking Exercises.
Until the left hand can properly "walk" with finger combinations 1-4, 1-3, and 1-2, and do that without incapacitating the inactive fingers, there is not much point in practicing scales. This DVD will enable you to establish the proper "bottom of your practice", so that you will learn to walk, and then, using the Basic Practice Approach to build speed, you will learn to run!
