Any Doors/Robby Kreiger fans on the board?

The Doors is my all-time favorite Rock & Roll band and Robby Krieger one of my favorite guitarists. He has this incredible, what I call, 'walky-talky' style of playing that I just love. He plays the guitar all over the neck in most of the songs and it's not all big power chords, but one-note-at-a-time, following the melody of the song around and jazzin' it up with the rest of the members of the band as he goes along.

Robby Krieger was trained originally as a classical guitarist. When he joined the Doors, he had been in only one rock band before and very briefly. He played lead guitar and rhythm without using a pick. The first song he ever wrote in this life, "Light My Fire" went #1 on the charts. Krieger had to get busy and make it all up out of almost nothing as he went along! Amazing!

Favorite Doors songs: "The Soft Parade" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1XlqCFi6o-E
"Hello, I Love You" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x34wa2jehek

Favorite Doors album: All of them. But I was especially impressed with "The Doors" (their debut) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MI_RVIl4ZsA and with "Strange Days" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0PcoxbOMGds

I met Robby Krieger in the early nineties, at a show at the Fine Line Music Cafe in MPLS, MN when Krieger put together his "Second Generation" band with Wah-Wah Watson and others. I talked him into letting me sing "Roadhouse Blues" with the band, but he changed his mind later and gave the job to his son, Waylon. Damn! Oh, well, better luck next time.

Kreiger is well into his late sixties and still going stronger than ever! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ugTLIET ... re=related

The Doors kicked butt. They could do it all! Rock, blues, jazz, classical, chanting -- everything and anything!!!!!!!

Long Live The Doors!

Cheers & Peace (Frog) y'all! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dKEg_FTloBc
Practice does not make perfect. Perfect practice makes perfect. Practice slow to learn and play fast.
