WHAT is wrong here?

Postby nhlpens » Thu Mar 17, 2011 11:13 am

There is something about my playing that I do not like one bit.
Here is a youtube video I just created, please leave me a comment here on the forum and tell me what I need to work on.

And I am sorry to say but my native language is not english so reading the principles of correct practice is difficult because I don't understand everything in the book, some words and meanings are hard.

Thank you SO MUCH for help, and please don't be gentle if you feel you wan't to criticise please do I want to know!

HI Hakon,

Most of all, the pull offs are not being articulate. This is due to the common problem of coming straight up off the string without actually pulling it. I go into all this in detail in my "hammers and pulls" ebook.

There are other issues, but it is hard to tell when you are playing along with the record, and also turned to the side.

If you want a good diagnoses, make a video of you alone, playing about half speed to only the metronome, with a clean sound. Then, we can see everything.

OH, I am copying this to the workshop forum, that is where we really give feedback!

You have a lot of talent obviously, just the usual areas that need some work, everyone has them!
Best,
Jamie

Thank you so much Jamie.

I will do a recording right now of me playing Hallowed be thy name by Iron Maiden, James Mayers' tribute to MJ- Human Nature, As well as Stairway To Heaven by Led Zeppelin', and some other random stuff. I hope the video is in high enough quality, and that you can tell me what I need to work on.
Also, I want to point out that my guitar is really damaged, It really needs to be adjust, Just saying.

Here is the video:

(I promise to purchase your Principles of Correct practice for guitar too, although english is not my native language, I can atlest read english and understand it to a certain point)
