Let's Go People!!!

This forum is for those players who would like to get on the path of progress and improve their playing. We invite you to post a video of anything you would like, preferably one that indicates where you feel you need work. Jamie and other forum members will assess your playing and tell you what you need to do to improve. This is also the place for all those working with Guitar Principles products.

Let's Go People!!!

Postby Jamie » Sat Jun 20, 2009 10:08 am

Let's go people...............

I want to see walking ex, rock solos, classical pieces, hammer ex, etc.

If you are not recording yourself, if you are not making videos of your best efforts, you are not serious about your playing. Period.

The seriousness of my response to your playing problems is going to be proportionate to my estimation of the seriousness of YOUR response to your playing problems. And if that response does not take the form of correct practice, which INCLUDES recording and video of best efforts and seeking feedback on those efforts, then, you are communicating to me, the Universe, and God Himself that you do not take your playing and progress very seriously!\

And so me, the Universe, and God, will respond accordingly................
Best,
Jamie

Jamie,
To make sure I get it,....clearly......here's where I now post anything I record aligned to your material, including pieces from the Classical Foundation Course (which I have not finished)?

Yes Ray, that is correct.

Here, I will give you a thumbs up, or down. I will perhaps tell you exactly what is wrong. I will perhaps tell you what direction to go in to fix it.

I will not, however, "take you by the finger" in the specific way I did in that forum, or that I do in webcams. I am not going to give something of that value back without a reciprocal return of value and commitment from the student (translation: I will not be giving away my teaching services in their most potent form, that will cost you.) I try to avoid situations where I care more about the students progress than they do, and that is what happens to me, I find, when I start teaching people who are not paying me in the same way that I teach people who are. So, my feedback will be limited to the "Caesar" type, thumbs up, thumbs down! :D

Of course, others are welcome to diagnose and prescribe treatment for playing problems to whatever degree of depth they prefer.

The purposes of this forum are:

1) to provide a feedback mechanism for students so they know definitely where they stand with their practice, whether their practice is truly correct, and thereby effective.

2) a motivation for students to do the hard work and make progress.
Best,
Jamie

Jamie,
Thanks. I understand completely. I might go for an indepth webcam one of those days. But first I'll finish my Classical Foundation using your thumbs up/thumbs down.

Jamie, will a thumbs down mean "thumbs up" for us folk downunder, and vice versa? this could be confusing!!!?? :?

Jokes aside, a great idea.
Not rushing to my goals, but enjoying each step toward them......

Tonight, I'm working out the technical aspects. Tomorrow, I should be posting videos. I want to show you what I've been working on since our webcam lesson.
If you want some recipes, I have a few, but nothing's better on guitar, than some "tasty blues stew".
All the Best,
Christian
