Relieve to have finally joined the community!

Greetings from San Diego!

I'm sort of a late bloomer in terms of learning the guitar. I'm in my mid 30s and have spent the majority of my musical life behind a drumset. I don't play much anymore but I do use the practice pad frequently....always trying to work on 4 limb independence.

I'm also a lindy hopper and was introduced to the sweet music of Django many years ago and that sort sparked my interest in guitar. I have a 2 year old and wouldn't it be nice to play music like this for him. This is my aspiration...and inspiration.

I will be playing an acoustic guitar and my goal is to practice 30 min each day with intermittant "posing" for a minute or so here and there. I welcome any and all suggestions on how to structure a quality practice regimen, including how much time per day is optimal and what a basic practice session should look like.

Jamie's book has resonates with me. I am excited to start my guitar playing with a relaxed and focused frame of mind. I am in no hurry to learn and it is my goal to get it right...even if it takes longer to accomplish. I happened upong Guitar Principles by accident through an exhaustive web search and decided to roll the dice. I am glad I did.

I have ready many of th posts on this forum and feel at home with you all. In the beginning stages I am going to try to take as much as I can from the group with the anticipating that I'll have a lot to give down the road.

Jamie, your playing is beautiful. Thank you for offering this gift to all of us.

You're welcome Scott, and welcome!

The most important thing is to post videos of your practice, that will make you move faster and more correctly than anything. 30 min is a good start. Do that, and let's see....
Best,
Jamie
