Ney Mello's long awaited 2-DVD set has been released!

The DVD set is not only an educational first but also a video editing first as it was coincidental with ongoing software development and coordination a the time which caused some delays. Moreover, given the unprecedented content and nature of the project many technical considerations added considerably to the delays.

This uniquely innovative project-filmed in state-of-the-art quality 720 line idv 2-camera video- was edited and sound post-production mixed by world renowned remix artist and composer JER OLSEN who has done remixes for BEYONCE KNOWLES and MADONNA among many other clients. This too, of course, caused some delays as Mr Olsen had to often attend to pressing demands from these superstars. This marks the first DVD project for Jer Olsen's company.

The DVD is the first of it's kind to focus entirely and exhaustively on the right hand training techniques applicable to ALL picked instruments.

It is for the guitarist-acoustic and shred-metal or jazz electric- as much as the mandolin or bouzouki or bass player.

The total playing time is 3h 50 mins.
The set features a training DVD and a second DVD with an in depth interview by japanese jazz guitarist Reiko Tanaka with Ney about his musical experiences and how he came about these technical innovations in pick training.

Additionally there is a trio concert at the Brazilian-american Cultural Institute with Ney on acoustic/electric and international bass luminary DAVID DYSON and John Mc Laughlin's percussionist VICTOR WILLIAMS.

Ney Mello would like to extend very special thanks to Mr. JAMES LOWNEY of Australia who was the organizer of an international internet petition which was the catalyst for the realization of this pioneering educative effort.

It is with great satisfaction that we release this information to all guitarists worldwide knowing that they will finally have the means to systematically develop their picking technique to it's ultimate potential!

With this release and Jamie's Foundational Course the mysteries of Pickstyle and Fingerstyle are finally opening up for all players and I can't really express how happy and grateful I am to be so close to the source!

ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!!

If anyone is wondering whether Ney's and Jamie's educational materials and advice is the REAL DEAL. Just come and check out my playing in a few years!

From what I can see this would be perfect for any beginner willing to learn! Let me clarify what I mean by that!

To summate it succinctly: any beginner that is willing to go through the "Principles..." in order to progress and do the work in the book, has the ability and drive to go through Ney's Speed Picking DVD.

I know that when I first received the principles I could have used this Ney "SPEED PICKING..." DVD along with the book and experienced spectacular results as I'm looking forward to now!

Like the DVD's stated purpose it focuses on right hand movement, and for me it's not only showing elements that Ney talks about in picking but organizes them together into a cohesive and effective whole.

So any student willing to go through the principles, or any student that already has the focus of some of the principles naturally at some level (extremely rare even at a small amount without expert instruction) can benefit from this. The more principled ones efforts though the more one could benefit, but get it in your library!

Do I think that you could benefit from this old_newbie?

Absolutely! and so can anyone else who has the patience(almost a four-letter word!) and discipline to go through the principles!

Awesome! I've been waiting patiently (like you and everyone else ) for several years for this. I have a few questions if you wouldn't mind answering them:

What speeds will this DVD allow someone to attain? I think remember you saying (in the past) that it would allow people to get up to at least 16ths @ 200 bmp. What about ~250? Is there no limit?

Of course I know this DVD is for the right hand, but is there any talk of coordination? Any tips for the left hand to coordinate it with the right?

Do you demonstrate movements in extreme No Tempo, as well as BPA?

Ney Mello demonstrates a path to 207BPM...224BPM, 238BPM! I've lost count...this is the real deal.

Things are demonstrated in a No Tempo fashion and in a Bottoms Up Fashion and BPA though of course without infringing on anyone's copyright. Will you be able to use this material demonstrated in the three previously mentioned fashions, absolutely!

Your thinking has to change as much if not more than just your physical motions have to change. Ney shows the physical motions but also talks and illustrates how to think about things at higher BPM and also MUCH more importantly within a musical context.

I got to order it early due to previous purchases of Ney Mello material(at same price as everyone else of course will).
I tried to get Ney to do this on the webcam with the left hand specifically but it would have taken several webcam lessons to get through the left hand's workings in as much detail as the right hand's high level functioning is shown here!

That's all I got to say, sometimes action(like purchasing and working through the DVD speak SO MUCH louder than words). I had to go into work all days of this week to be able to afford the DVD, but it is simply worth it.

We made a limited supply because we are not Time-Warner . It is selling a lot since it is the first of it's kind and there are lot's of pick players worldwide. I had to hire a personal assistant (Raquel-) who will be dealing with orders.... and also writing -all- my articles for me (just kidding!).
