Sherpa works

Postby GAA43 » Mon May 21, 2012 6:55 pm

I thought I'd finally write a bit about my Sherpa experience with Jamie. I'm in my second month, and am very very positive about it. I've been posting to and reading the forum for a little over a year, and taken a few lessons from Jamie, and with that background, the 'time-shifted learning environment' works great (not to say that that background is necessary). Getting quick focused video feedback with a little demo or explanation several times a week is, to use a much overused word, awesome. It's also noteworthy to mention that the video 'trading' process is much much easier than what one has to go through with the youtube/forum thing.

Today was particularly stellar, as she showed me a technique/exercise (apparently one that will be in her upcoming book) that in just an hour of focused practice is making a big difference in an issue that has cropped up as I've pushed my limits with some fairly challenging blues riffs.

Plus she keeps using the phrase 'to get it to a professional level'. I think it might be a bit generous to use this phrase anywhere in my general vicinity, but it is very gratifying and motivating nonetheless :)

So that's my story and I'm sticking to it. And I have to say, I would be embarrassed to sound like such a commercial if I wasn't truly very pleased with the program.

Thanks Greg! Yes, this Sherpa program is a great opportunity for a person who is serious about getting better on guitar. The cost is very reasonable, and believe me, I am putting in more time per student than was really part of the sherpa plan, since I have no restrictions on video submissions for feedback.

Feedback frequency in so important, and we an easy means for it there, in video! Feedback intensity is great too, because everybody gets a personalized video response of what to do. And as you say, I am using many new techniques not even published yet. So, yes, I am very pleased with your progress, and everyone else there. Plus, its' a lot of fun! :D

Oh, and I keep using the phrase, "bring it to the professional level" with you because you are very close to that in your playing. Bridging the gap takes precisely the kind of intense work we are able to do together there.
Best,
Jamie

Greg thanks for the feedback. I must be a remedial player because I was told the opposite. I agree the video submission process on Sherpa is quite nice.
