Solos with a bolt-on neck guitar

Postby Merc » Thu Jun 07, 2012 1:02 am

I'm learning a solo that has 3 successive bends on the first string 22nd fret. I can't get in there properly to use good form. Is there a trick or technique for dealing with this issue? (Aside from getting a neck-thru which I plan on doing eventually)

A photo or video would help answer your question Merc ;)

What brand/model do you have? Each design is different and facilitates differing degrees of access. That's why I think SG's rule!
Not rushing to my goals, but enjoying each step toward them......

I don't have any kind of camera to take a picture. I thought this problem was common enough since I see it mentioned all the time when bolt-ons and neck-thrus are compared. The problem is that the neck joint of the guitar prevents the thumb from getting over top of the fingers and with the necessary stretch involved, to reach the highest frets, some leverage is lost. The guitar in question is a Jackson DKMG 2009.
