I have been thinking about this particular question for a while.

Music is alive.

I could not justify it in a rational manner, you know... but when I pay attention to music, I really feel a presence. It is as if the music had a mind of her own, and that she decided where to take me.

The first time I read of music as a living form (thanks NEY), I could not make sense out of it.

Now, I do not say this to "imitate" what NEY wrote, I say this because I FELT it, and this feeling was so strong that I did not want to ignore it.

PS : Ney, very cool of you to open this thread.

Ney...

Did your DSL modem actually explode and cause bodily harm ?

They run those voltages kinda high, but that is unacceptable.

Lightning ?

I would contemplate legal action.

Not to be "suit happy" but because if it happened to you it could happen to other people. Imagine a fire late at night when everyone is sleeping...

Hopefully you were kind of kidding...

?

- Not only that, simply replacing the device may not be a good idea.

Have the carrier come out and check the wiring installation. It must be improperly grounded without a "Lightning Block" / Fuse from the outside to the inside.

So there are two kinds of "recall", one of which may be in order.

Workmanship - improper wiring. - maybe the whole neighborhood needs to be redone, or all wiring done by "that guy" or "outfit".

Device Design - faulty reset switch that grounds into the high voltage, which is just not cool.

Thanks light rock...

Your advice is great.

I was without web access for 5days and it turns out my modem was fine.... I had ordered one that just came in so i will be kept as aspare in case this one goes . it is 3 years old already and the (TWO) techs ( a boy and a girl named Adam and Eve after the messy nitwit couple ) thought it was broken. Turns out they had not told me to log in my new password! into my email program, just on the router on my windows system and it was totally blocked today, I was cleaning out some files and i noted that the browser microsoft exploder worked it acessed from somewhere else. But not the e-mail ..

So I called verizon again and a lady told me to just log my new password into the outlook "espresso" program abd everithing worked again. I told then to give her abig raise since she did the work of 3!

THE MAC was another story ....the apple guy could just configure the info and it kept showing that it was not connected ///so he said "go to netgearl and hwve them put the password on the router"....but the router was alredy working for the pc ...so I decide to just clear teh cache on the mac and try again and it worked all of a sudden.

I suppose most of th techs are not kowlegeable enough or too geeked out of their minds to be effective.

"Music is the voice of god.
So what is god? in my definition its some kind of endless life
stream that exists and is the root of all existing.
so it can touch your actual connection to god itself and with
it it can be as destructive as it can be healing.
So it can transfere you in another one s reality, primarly the
reality of ones life feelings."

Very cool!

"The voice of God"... very poetic and very true!

I noticed you mentioned the reality of one's feelings...but music is also about much more than emotional feelings . There are (as you imply?) may other types of feelings of equal importance.

I am not sure about the typos but the artist has an innate preference for certain types of musical manifetations called "styles" which are the finite and also infinite part of music. Given those he/she will selectivelyle tune into that part of infinity and make is real for the audience.

The medium you seem to reffer to is actually music itself as you perceive it righ now and as you say you will in your view influence it with your personality and emotional coloring.

I say the same thing differently. I say my personality -including emotional coloring and beyond emotional realms- limits the content of the music to af inite level of expression called my "style".

Where we differ ( and that is OK by the way ) is in the notion of the ego creating music versus the notion of music being independed and alive regardless of the human ego's ideas about it and it's existence.

"Music is sounds put together to create an art form. It is
infinite and finite -- beautiful in the box and out of the
box. Music plays by rules and breaks the rules. Music is a
gift that no one can own, but that one can have the honor of
letting it pass through them and out to the audience if one
works very hard to receive the gift. Music can evoke all
emotions, and touch a soul."

Beautifully stated Donna!

"I'll give this a whirl. This is hard to express within the
context of a written language, I think, but here goes.

Music is a subjective perception. It is the artist's
perception of the universal energy that we refer to as love,
but it is also the listener's perception of that same thing,
simultaneously.

Music is the audible (physical?) manifestation of the essence
of love.

Geez, I could write about this for a VERY long time. But I'll
just end here in the interest of brevity."

Brilliant Calen!

That is the reality of it.

Making sense has many meanings and most of them are based on personal experience....the less experience one has ( intellectual genius notwithstanding) the less one can make sense out of reality and the universal being.

So when you experience it.. you got it! just like your heroes! THAT is what they feel!

Well there are so many incredible answers. I am VASTLY IMPRESSED!
