Metronome Recommendation?

Postby SereneBlue » Fri Jan 27, 2012 3:34 am

Hello,

Just dropping in to say hi. With my next paycheck I plan to get the Principles book and dvd. I plucked around on the guitar a while back but never got any good at it. Only recently decided to give it a go again and picked up a used acoustic-electric steel string. I'm very eager to see what Jamie has to say about practicing. Especially the bit about getting rid of tension in the left arm. It was the killer muscle tension and pain in my left arm and shoulder that would lead to my being a "guitar player drop-out" so constantly so I'm *very* interested in reading/watching the sections on dealing with that problem.

I'm also wondering if anyone can recommend a decent metronome? Unfortunately I can't spend a lot on it - maybe $25 tops. Is there a portable metronome available that has a percussion sound rather than annoying beeps?

Also is there a Windows software program that will let you record yourself playing (preferably free or low cost)? I run Windows XP. I have a cheap $10 PC mic hooked into my computer. Will that do?

For a metronome with 'better' sounds you might try drum machine software for your PC. Do a google search on 'free drum machine software windows'.

For recording software, check out Audacity. I think its free.
