1st Blues Shuffle & Lick For Review

Postby Ted » Tue Jun 12, 2012 1:49 am

OK, here's my first shuffle and blues lick from the "Rock & Blues" course for review.

I'm really liking this course. Lots of neat little tricks to learn that take the practice and the playing to a whole new level!

Excellent Ted.....you are moving through the course fast and strong.."Ted's Excellent Adventure Through The Rock & Blues Course"!

On the shuffle, you might try also using "down-up" on the picking, but of course you can do it any way you want for the sound you want. Your down-picks give it a driving feel, and something tells me that IS what you want! :D

The solo was great, the bends are dead on, so, hey, keep going!
Best,
Jamie

Thanks, Jamie & Ruby! Great comments!

Jamie, you're absolutely right! That driving feel is just where it's at. I was born to it! I tried the up down picking before I did the down picking video but decided I like the down picking a lot better and stuck to it. Cleaner and more hammering!

I got the drive stuck in my system very early on, @ age 7 w/ Johnny Cash & Co.: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N5Ts4M3i ... re=related

And the drive was heavily reinforced @ age 12 w/ Ted Nugent's "Free-For-All (now, if that aint drive -- I don't know what is!: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mV1zNs_u3OU (Can anyone guess who sang this song on Nugent's "Free-For-All" record? The answer may surprise you!).

"Uh, keep yo' eyes on the road -- yo' hands upon the wheel! -- Let it roll, Baby, roll!!!!!!!" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EYg285lSb4Y

I might've been born with John Henry's hammer in my hands! HA!

*******
Right on, Ruby! That passion's what it's all about!
