Andante I

Postby polydorus » Sat May 23, 2009 11:16 am

Hi Jamie
I have had to take a couple of breaks from guitar for health reasons, which is why I haven't posted anything for a while.
One of my problems affected the hearing in one ear so that it has become slightly deaf whilst at the same time being very sensitive to loud noises which sound distorted. This has affected my ability to hear just how my playing sounds especially the dynamics, but I can get round it so some extent by putting an ear plug in the affected ear.

I think I need a bit more time with my right hand on the Waltz with variations, so I am doing the two andantes next.

Here is the first.

That's great Simon, nice and smooth. The left hand form, with the thumb up so high and the hand so squeezed into the neck will cause you problems down the line, but it is not affecting you much here.

Sorry to hear about the health issues, I wish you the best....
Best,
Jamie

Thanks Jamie

I hadn't noticed what I am doing with my thumb, My only excuse is that I have been been using a steel string acoustic guitar and an electric and I am forgetting to swap. I will try to do better on the next piece.

I didn't listen to the example MP3 before doing this and, having listened to it now, I would have played the piece rather differently. I don't think I got much feeling into it.
