Ampeg guitar amps

Postby billbr » Wed Jun 16, 2010 11:52 pm

Does anyone remember the old tri ax series of Ampeg guitar amps.

Does ampeg make guitar amps anymore. I see that the Jet Blue series is gone.

Could I play my guitar through one of their bass amps and sound good?

You need to contact Ampeg directly to know for real what they make and don't make.

It depends what you mean by "sound good" Fender bassman are used all the time for guitar.....You have to go out and try it with your guitars and your strings and picks and your touch. Every guitar is different, string gauges make or break your amp tone, your pick changes tone dramatically and your touch is like no one elses.......Now you see why it makes zero sense to say yes or no in a forum.

That is how a player choses his amps. After you become a master musician on the electric you will know enough to just get any amp sight unseen by just hearing others play it....but not before. I hear people complaining all the time that the amp does not sound good to them even after they tried it in a store!...That means they don't know how to listen yet. So my recommendation us to listen very carefully when you try it.

that's excellent advice, Ney ... each person's idea of what sounds "good" is different ... it can be helpful to get recommendations on amps, but the individual is ultimately responsible for making his/her purchase decision ...

most guitar stores are happy to let you bring your own instrument to try out an amplifier .... it's like buying a car ... the test drive is 1/2 the fun ! :D

Definitely!. and much safer too!...I just rented a car today that looks cool, drives fine but the gas pedal and the break are too close for comfort to me and make my legs get out of alignment which twists the spine which means serious health problems..... Many people who don't play instruments wont care about something like this ( they don't feel their bodies cries for mercy) until they have to go to the chiropractor or develop a "bad back".The rental is just for a day and a half...but imagine buying this model just because someone else finds it just perfect.... I never have run into my legs getting out of alignment with a car before! So watch out ....amps and guitars are the same!
