Ney, you got a way with imaginery, brother.  Love it. Perfect.

Tiffany,
Congrats on your first video. That act alone is one of top 3 things you can do to improve your playing and grow as a guitarist. The other two are read the Princples and practice. Looks like you're doing all 3 so you are way on your way. I reckon you're right where you're supposed to be and look forward to seeing your progress. Like Jamie says; There are no mistakes only undesired results. That's why to practice so slow you can notice those results - so what you picked up on is exactly the reason to go slow, otherwise you'd be unware of what's actually happened and just think it's a mistake that you can't put your finger on (no pun intended)

But just to add my 2-cents  in on the great advice you've already gotten; One thing that's helping me with what you are talking about is to land the pick lightly on the string (touch like how Ney said) and pose for awhile and allow myself to experience how that feels, then slowly add pressure but not enough to go through the string and pose there. At first it will keep slipping and your sounding the string when you don't want to but if you keep posing (gently) you find that you can hold that string where you want it longer and longer with more control of when you sound it. At least, that's been happening for me.
Progress always involves risk; you can't steal second base and keep your foot on first base.

Hi Tiffany,

Welcome to our forum and congratulations on your first post! :D

It looks great to me, really wonderful! Nice careful movement. I don't really see the bouncing you are talking about, but in any case, take Alexanders advice. That technique is called "posing at the top of the cycle of the note". It is a powerful concept from my classical course. Just make sure you focus on whole body relaxation as you are posing. It will also greatly help you to "bounce" the pick on the string before playing the note. This connects the arm to the string in a very intimate way.

Work this up, don't delay. Get on to the walking exercises too. You will be great, I have the feeling! :D :D
Best,
Jamie

Wow thanks so much for your responses!! I had just finished practicing and was feeling very frustrated because I had the sensation that the lower three strings were very slippery and my pick kept slipping off. Now after reading these posts I feel like I can get right to the heart of the matter and stop this bouncing around business. And the image of the needle and thread will definitely help me get into the right mindset to make those movements as slow as they need to be.

Thanks Ney, Alexander, and Jamie :D :D

 Some students can be very impatient so it becomes a case of "mission impossible" to teach them...In these situations the pick slips and the guitar actually detonates and explodes in their lap and later the paramedics pick up the body smithereens and guitar debris if there are any left...It is usually chalked of by the Harvey Keitel lieutenant as " guitar suicide" and... case closed!
