Musicianship


Musicianship encompasses all the knowledge and skills we need to be in command of the music we play. When we are in command of our music, we can do what we want with it, and we can present it to others in the most powerful and effective way. So, in addition to our technique, we need a number of other skills such as ear training and understanding music theory.

All of these things, however, must ultimately come together in our ability to feel our music deeply, and make others feel it when we play. That is the summit of musicianship.
