Had the book for a while. I sat down this weekend and read it for the first time. Read it in two sittings. I couldn't put it down.

Read most of it out loud to my girlfriend who also didn't want me to stop reading. She had to ask a couple of times "you sure this is a book about guitar?"

Throat is a little sore but this is powerful stuff, but as with everything the power comes in the action and not the knowledge.

I've made the decision to really spend some time meditating and devouring some of these concepts even further and I'm going to make a considerable effort to start implementing some of this stuff not just in my guitar practice but in all areas of my life.

Amazing book, really a treasure.

This book has pride of place in my library and I dip into it daily. It is so powerful.

Because it contains power, understanding and acting upon the wisdom in the book will help you tremendously in the years ahead.

Really grasping this knowledge and putting it into action could save you years of torment. I know that sounds melodramatic. But it is my honest assessment of the book and I have only read some of the essays and I will be going back to them daily to get a deeper understanding.

Let me put it this way. What Jamie has done is to bring many ideas I have been exposed to over 45 years on the planet Earth. She has explained, defined and shown how they work together, in a way I have not been able to do for myself to such a degree. I instantly saw how this will affect the rest of my life and it is more valuable to me than all her guitar instruction works put together. I am forever grateful that Jamie shares her power with me.

I have also just finished Deeper. I have been completely blown away by this book. This being a great book for musicians, I think the third section of the book, about life, can be for anyone.

Besides the wonderful insights on how to be a great musician and artist, the third part of the book is the best book I have ever read on how to live a happy and prosperous live. I have already put many of Jamie's “Principles” to work in both my personal and professional live, and I have seen immediate results.

I have read many self help books and most are pretty useless, but this is one I will also read many times. As I was reading this book I kept asking myself "how did Jamie get this much wisdom and insight". I am having my non-musician wife read the book and I have also ordered a copy for a present. FYI, I got a signed copy from Jamie (really cool).

2 days ago I got Jamie's book "The Deeper I Go, The Deeper It Gets".

Well I’m just about page 47 now and I’m really satisfied I bought it I would even rate it much more precious as “The Principles”, anyway it’s also about “The Principles”.

The good thing about it is there is almost no repetition in its wisdom, compared to "the inner game of music", I’d say it’s more compact and much more to think about.

I think I also discovered my biggest problem here.

It’s all about string shifting exercise number one. Preparation in pick style is much about coming back to the very relaxed state of the whole right arm and shoulder before you get to your next action.

Well anyway good book, it’s really worth the money, get it!

I got my copy in the mail today and I'm already spellbound by it.

Jamie has really done something amazing here. This book is eye-opening on so many different levels; within my last week of reading this and Jamie's articles on the site, my perspective from which I approach the guitar has undergone a drastic metamorphosis. I finally feel like I'm beginning to REALLY understand this wonderful instrument. This book is invaluable to anyone looking to come into his or her own as a musician, and even a person. Many thanks to Jamie for blessing us with such infinite wisdom.

Get a copy of THE DEEPER I GO THE DEEPER IT GETS…and start learning some amazing "shortcuts" to guitar mastery.

You need this book.. I need this book...off course!...we all keep expanding our greatness!

Wisdom presented in such an accessible way as JAMIE has done and condensed to such a degree is a treasure to the artist whose life is truly committed to music and the guitar.

You will be able to use THE PRINCIPLES OF CORRECT PRACTICE FOR GUITAR with much greater depth...and you will be able to utilize JAMIE'S DVD'S much more effectively when you apply the wisdom in this book to your own life as a guitarist...for most of your obstacles have nothing to do with technique per se.

So let's read this book NOW and shave off years of frustration and preventable inner blindness...and get where you want to be...soon!

Several years ago, during a very dark period in my life filled with a lot of work-related stress, I read a quote: “success is 10% talent and 90% attitude.” I couldn’t help but think of this quote as I was reading Jamie’s philosophy book: “The Deeper I Go, the Deeper It Gets”. This is the book about the 90%. I always felt “The Principles of Correct Practice for Guitar” was the most important book on my shelf. While it is of utmost importance, I realize that “Deeper” is just as important, if not more important….

“The Deeper I Go, the Deeper It Gets” is the success manual for the musician. It doesn’t matter if your goal is playing to a crowd of thousands, or if your goal is in a classroom teaching, or if your goal is playing in a coffee shop, or playing before family. This is the book that helps the musician to mold and shape the attitude that leads to success. And, I say “musician” as opposed to “guitarist” because this book is not just for the guitarist. It is for all musicians…

If you have not secured a copy of "The Deeper I Go, the Deeper It Gets", I highly recommend this book. In it, Jamie covers all the "inner" issues of dealing with playing the guitar. She covers it in depth. I don't think one stone is left unturned. I find this book an essential part of my growth on the guitar. It's the kind of book that took me several months to study and meditate on. I have had it for a few years now, and I often pull it off the shelf, open it up, and find myself re-reading it on a deeper level because "the deeper I go, the deeper it gets".

Jamie has devoted her life to giving the guitarist a boatload of tools to be successful. This musician thanks Jamie from the bottom of her heart.

Time to go practice!

Sincerely,

-Donna Z.

I have a lot of Religion, Philosophy, Psychology, Parenting, Common Sense books
that I have read over the years. The "Deeper" book encompasses all of that and more! Everything from
the Bible to the Tao to the Bhagavad-Gita to the Upanishads, to just plain common sense all explained
beautifully in this book.

"Deeper" has become my favorite book! It's just an extra added bonus that it talks about
guitar as well. Jamie is just a fabulous writer! And has such great insight for things that we should all know deep inside. I fully believe you could take the word "guitar" out of the book, re-issue it in a different market, and it would be the #1 best seller, as the best "owners manual for the human being" book on the market! I truly think it is "The Way of Life" book! At least it has become for me.

Good afternoon, Jamie…

I wanted to write you a quick note to thank you for writing “The Deeper I Go the Deeper it Gets – Meditations on Life and Guitar.” I just finished my first (of many) reading and must say that, not only was I inspired musically, but spiritually and mentally as well. You have touched the heart of what it means to be human and what it means to be a musician. You have bared your soul and shared your observations and experiences in a way that help to define these truths in a way that, through logical analysis, make it all make sense.

You are a blessing to a world…mine!

Jamie,

I just finished reading your book "The Deeper I Go, The Deeper It
Gets". I have to say it is one of the best books I have ever read. I am
a guitar student and was drawn to your essays on the net because they
echo a lot of what my teacher has taught me. He believes in getting his
students up onstage with him to jump into the "deep"! I also read your
"Principles Of Correct Practice For Guitar". You have given me some
great motivation and positive reinforcement of my lessons.

Thank You!
