Lesson 2. Sitting & Holding

GOAL: Learn why sitting correctly for practice makes your fingers learn better.

How you sit and hold the guitar when you practice is extremely important, especially for beginners. Why? Because if the way you are holding the guitar creates a lot of tension in your upper body, arms and hands while you practice, it will be very difficult to control your fingers.

After you are somewhat developed as a player, you will be able to hold it any way you want when you play. But for practicing, we must create the ideal physical conditions for relaxation throughout the body as the fingers work.
