                  * It's enlightening!

And it will quickly double (at least) your progress on guitar.

After a lesson with Jamie, you will find yourself saying what Linda says in the video below..."Wow, I know I can just keep getting better and better!"...

I love to have an extended period of time to work with you, so that I can do a deep and powerful dive into the issues and obstacles you are encountering in your guitar practice.

The fastest and surest way to success on guitar is to take lessons directly from Jamie. She is famous for her ability to watch a student play, and immediately diagnose the reason for a students's difficulty, no matter what style of guitar. Better yet, she knows exactly what the student must do to solve that problem.

Jamie's key areas of focus with students are:

* Showing the student how to practice correctly for effective results from time spent.

* Teaching the student how to solve specific technical problems they are having, such as troubles with speed, strumming, accuracy, chord changes, etc.

* Organizing the students practice to fit their level and goals, making sure all key areas are covered.

* Developing the students as a musician, making sure the student has the emotional involvement with their music that a musician must have, as well as the mental understanding of the music they are playing.

There are many ways of studying with Jamie, from webcam lessons, to her  online classroom, to in-person consulations. Each one will bring you powerful growth as a guitar player.

"I feel fortunate to have discovered a way to take lessons with Jamie even though I am thousands of miles away in Maine. Webcam lessons have provided me that opportunity. It is as good as being in the same room!

I have never been made so aware of exactly where my fingers are supposed to be and where the tension is that I need to eliminate. I look forward to each lesson…"

"...it's amazing the 'little' things she sees and is able to provide really insightful and helpful advice on."

Gregory Lee

"...if anyone needs supersonic development as a player then lessons with Jamie will make it happen."

"In addition to diagnosing student problems, I find there is a great benefit by the simple fact of contact with the student. I am able to observe their practice, and find the flaws in their understanding of correct practice. It can save the student years of frustration.

Also, I can lay out the proper next step tailored to your situation for the achievement of your goals. I can then help you craft a practice schedule and strategy that really brings results, replacing the usual haphazard, lopsided, or disorganized approach many use. I look forward to meeting many more students in webcam lessons.”

A generic image A Teaching Approach Like No Other
By Linda Schack on January 2, 2024
I play rhythm guitar in an old-time string band, and I’ve had all kinds of lessons: private, group workshops, guitar camp. I learned many useful things, but I was on a years-long plateau. I tried to teach myself scales but my fingers were jumping all over the place and wouldn’t stay quiet. My bar chords didn’t always sound clean. I was unable to bring out the beauty of my guitar.
Then I started taking lessons with Jamie. Most people don’t realize that to become a great (or even good) guitar player, hand and finger agility must be systematically developed. Jamie is one of the very few who has the ability and patience to do this with students.
I can feel myself improving every single week. I am free of the pain I used to have when playing for long periods of time. I can play complex bass runs that evoke appreciative grins from my bandmates. I am becoming the guitar player I always wanted to be.
Taking lessons with Jamie is one of the best decisions I have made as a musician, and I’m so grateful to have found her.

I have picked up the guitar on and off for more than a decade but never made much progress with it because of persistent wrist pain that would start after about 10 minutes of playing. I had heard about Jamie and when a friend randomly invited me to Las Vegas I jumped on the opportunity to do in-person lessons. Over the course of four hours split over a weekend, Jamie worked with me to adjust hand and finger position and deal with tension issues to the point that there was no more wrist pain!

Instead I felt everything in the top of my hand, up my arm, and into my shoulder. I felt like I had gotten an actual workout instead of having injured myself. It's been only a week since then and I now have a practice schedule and see a real way forward and have already made more progress in this past week than in years on my own. I will be signing up for the web lessons for sure.
A generic image Skype Lessons on Bass
By Michael Ashton on June 18, 2016
I had the principles of correct practice and wanted to ensure that I applied it correctly to bass. The Skype lessons with Jamie accelerated my progress to an astonishing rate. I started to play things that I never thought that I would be able to, and my speed and accuracy just sky-rocketed. Also the speed that I learn things is so much faster.
I joined a band and they are constantly amazed by this and they just assume that what I play is correct (rightly).

Jamie's ability to point out things that I would otherwise not notice is uncanny, even across a Skype link.

I am playing songs now (Californication, White Wedding, Superstition) that If I had attempted them six months ago would have led to muscles in my arms seizing up and back/shoulder/neck problems.

Amongst other things, Jamie has taught me how to play and be relaxed while doing it, even at ferocious tempos.

I heartily recommend Jamie's teaching. She is the best teacher I have worked with, and I have seen lots of teachers over more than 25 years.

I started playing guitar when I was 58. I had a series of very nice teachers, some of whom were performing at the Blue Note. But they were essentially musicians rather than teachers. Three years later I have made some progress, but I never reached the desired speed and understanding how to really play this instrument that I love so much. Even practicing three hours a day didn’t dramatically improve my playing. Ultimately I have read the “Principles” by Jamie Andreas, and this changed everything. I decided to take some Skype lessons with her, which I am busy doing for the last three months.

This is just an incredible experience in life; it’s not only about how to position your fingers from the left or the right hand, about how to feel the strings, the exact pressure you exert. You learn not only to play with your brains and your fingers, but also to coordinate all this, your arms, your shoulders, and your respiration. Most importantly, you learn to analyze in depth every note you play and to correct everything that could be wrong. This kind of focusing and in depth analysis of every step is so incredibly fundamental, so fun, and so rewarding. As an MD, PhD, I spent my life in the academic environment, but I have never met such a dedicated teacher.

Today if I would have to start again the education of my children, I would not send them to any of these prestigious schools but to Jamie Andreas. She would teach them better than anyone else how to focus and understand what they are doing. And this is just applicable to any field.

Thank you Jamie!
